This news is not shocking in the least bit, but it’s still news and worth reporting on the heels of the Browns trading Trent Richardson.
Less than two weeks after the Browns said that Weeden wasn’t on a short leash, NFL Films analyst Greg Cosell said Thursday on WHFS-FM in Tampa, Fla., that he “happens to know” Weeden is “not going to be their guy” for the 2014 season.
Again it’s not breaking news, but it allows you into a glimpse of the Browns mindset as they sit on four of the top 62 picks in the 2014 NFL Draft.
While working as an NFL Network analyst in 2012, Browns executive Michael Lombardi stated that he thought Mike Holmgren and the previous regime’s first-round selection of Weeden was a “panicked disaster.”
The fact that Weeden’s skills set is supposed to be suited for a vertical offense, but yet he can’t figure out Norv Turner’s offense spells doom for the older than normal second year veteran.
