Johnny Manziel gives coaches nightmares.
His coaches, opposing coaches, and if you listen to NFL people, even his future coaches are having nightmares trying to figure out how to either stop him or control him.
Manziel and the Aggies face SMU a week after amassing close to 700 yards of total offense, but still coming out on the losing end of things.
SMU defensive coordinator Tom Mason is the next coach in line trying to figure out how he’s going to slow Manziel down. Mason who is fully aware of the challenge, told the Dallas Morning News that he has the worst job in America this week.”
Mason acknowledged that he spent the teams bye week glued to the flat screen, as he watched Manziel shred Alabama’s pro style defense to the tune of 464 yards passing and rushing for 98 in a 49-42 loss.
“He creates so much stuff with his feet, with his scrambling ability,’’ Mason said. “He’s got a real uncanny ability to throw the ball as he scrambles.
“It’s hard to really prepare for him. He’s going to get some on you, you have to try to minimize it by creating a turnover here or there. I think the worst thing you can do is change your (base) structure. You do what you do and see what happens.”
