You have to take everything Dwight Howard says with a huge grain of salt, so I’m sure some eyes will roll when folks find out Howard actually listened to advice from Stan Van Gundy.

Yes that Stan Van Gundy, the coach who was fired in Orlando because of Howard.

During the Rockets media day gathering, Howard made an odd revelation when he said that Stan Van Gundy suggested to him during the free agency process that he should sign with the Houston Rockets.

Van Gundy coached Howard in Orlando from 2007 to 2012.  Oddly, both men say their still friends.
