The Atlanta Falcons will have their normal eight game home schedule next season, but one of those games won’t be in the Georgia Dome. According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the Georgia World Congress Center Authority (GWCCA), the board the controls the Georgia Dome, have given the Falcons permission to play one home game away from the Georgia Dome in London.
The NFL requested the Falcons participate in the NFL International Series next season, and since the Falcons lease with the Georgia Dome requires them to play two preseason games and eight regular season games in the stadium, a special vote had to be held by the board to allow the Falcons to lose a home game.
The NFL will also compensate the GWCCA and Atlanta Falcons for all revenue had the game been played in the Georgia Dome.
