So back in 2004, Mike Ditka considered running for Senate against Barack Obama. For some reason (Obama was a lock) the Republicans in Illinois couldn’t get anyone to run against him. Ditka, has been politically active and is pretty conservative even campaigning for McCain-Palin in the 2008 election. He was approached about running against Obama in 2004 but declined citing his “busy schedule.”

Ditka spoke at the opening of a North Dakota oil facility last week and had this to say:

“Biggest mistake I’ve ever made,” Ditka said. “Not that I would have won, but I probably would have and he wouldn’t be in the White House.”

Someone needs to get hold of “Da Coach” and bring him back to reality.
