Such a stark difference from earlier in the season.
Rumors of Don Mattingly being fired used to be a daily occurrence prior to the Dodgers post All-Star Break heroics. Now, it seems that the Dodgers have no immediate plans on letting Don go.
Ken Gurnick of MLB.com talked with a source who says Mattingly will be back no matter the outcome in the NLCS. Mattingly’s contract includes an option for 2014, so barring him being fired on the spot he will return next season.
Of course, talk alone is cheap and with the Dodgers in a ‘win now’ mode I find it hard to believe they wont make any managerial upgrades in the off season off an NLCS loss.
