The NY Jets have a big game this Sunday against their conference rival New England Patriots. In preparation for Sunday Rex Ryan gave his players a little advice on things to avoid this week, including having sex with their wives.

Ryan, in a team meeting Wednesday, told the Jets they need to be well-rested when Tom Brady and Co. hit MetLife Stadium on Sunday, and, according to Josh Cribbs, “don’t do nothing for your wife.”
For defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson, that not only meant avoiding things like taking out the garbage, it also included any activities in the bedroom.
“Most definitely,” said Richardson told the News with an ear-to-ear grin, when asked if Rex’s message included hanky panky.
Ryan later tried to clarify his statement, saying that he was talking about household chores like taking out the trash and not sex.
I’ve heard of players not having sex a few days before a game, saying that they play with more aggression. And we’ve all heard the stories about athletes sending prostitutes to rivals’ hotels in order to “drain them.” There’s definitely something to his theory.
I’m not mad at Rex. He doesn’t want anything to distract his players this week and women can be one heck of a distraction. Taking out the trash…not so much. I just wish hadn’t backed down from what I think was his original intention.
