It’s only been a couple of months since New Orleans Pelicans’ Ryan Anderson’s girlfriend, Gia Allemand, committed suicide after the two reportedly had a huge fight, and during the team’s media day he couldn’t hide his emotion when talking about her.
Anderson opened up during the team’s media day, telling reporters he hadn’t planned to talk about it, but then tearfully said … “we have a huge plan to do something great in her name that’s going to help a lot of people.”
Anderson says that they are planning to do “something great” that will help a lot of people. He also alluded to her battle with depression by saying that it’s a topic that is not talked about enough.
Tough subject for Anderson to discuss and I commend him for addressing it head on with the media. Prayers go out to him and Allemand’s family as they continue to grieve. It’s great that they will take this tragic event and use it as a way to raise awareness and help others.
