Although he’s most known for being one of the most dangerous kick returners in the NFL, Devin Hester is listed on the Bears’ roster as a wide receiver. But Wednesday and Friday he went through position drills with the defensive backs.
“I have fun and I joke around and try to make practice a little fun,” Hester said of his work with the defensive backs. “That’s why I do it, to reminisce on stuff. At the end of the day, we’re just having fun.”
Don’t sleep. It’s fun, but if put into a situation where he would need to play in a game at DB, Hester knows he could handle it.
“I think so, but we’re deep at DBs right now,” Hester said. “We have second and third options if anything goes wrong with the guys playing now. If push comes to shove, it’s fourth quarter, 2 minutes left in the game and we need to go any kind of coverage with me back there, I’ll do it.”
This is not as far-fetched as it might seem. Hester was drafted as a cornerback out of Miami in 2006. He was listed at that position for one season
