Jameis Winston’s Attorney Says It Was Consensual Sex Not Rape (Video)

The situation in Tallahassee will affect more than a Heisman and National Championship chase.

Jameis Winston’s life and reputation are on the line.

In the aftermath of an ESPN report that states that Winston’s DNA was found on the alleged victims panties, Winston’s lawyer, Tim Jansen, addressed the matter according to AL.com.

When asked by a reporter today if the sex between Winston and the accuser was consensual.
“Absolutely,” Jansen said.
Jansen also criticized both the Tallahassee Police Department and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement for what he said would be an illegal leak of the results of the DNA analysis to the media while adding he wasn’t surprised by what was reported by ESPN.
“I don’t think it’s a secret what the defense is when I tell you that we are not surprised his DNA was found,” Jansen said. “We anticipated it would be found. We never, ever said he wasn’t there.”
Jansen then backtracked somewhat on the consensual part.
“I’m not saying that. But I’m saying that the eyewitnesses who were there will verify that any material that was found or any evidence that was found is consistent with him doing nothing wrong.”
Jansen then questioned the relationship between the States Attorney’s office, and ESPN.
“All I know is it’s very suspicious that the only news reporting agency that (State Attorney) Willie Meggs met privately with yesterday in his office was the one that reported that last night on television and that would be ESPN.”
