Louisville coach Rick Pitino says that junior forward Chane Behanan has been reinstated and will dress for Tuesday night’s game against Hofstra.
Pitino of course announced on Oct. 17 that Behanan had been suspended indefinitely for violating school rules, but didn’t specify what team rule was broken.
The coach later said that the 6-foot-6, 250-pound player would miss at least the first month with the third-ranked Cardinals.
Pitino later clarified the month rule, and said that he didn’t expect Behanan to go 30 days without getting in trouble.
“We said he had to go 30 days straight with no mess-ups before he could practice and he’s done that,” Pitino said. “I didn’t think he could do the right thing for 30 days in a row — getting up, coming over here at 6:45 in the morning, meeting curfew at night, getting through tutoring all day. I was a doubting Thomas, to say the least, but he’s done all the right things.”
Behanan averaged 9.8 points and 6.5 rebounds last season, helping the Cardinals win the NCAA National Championship.
