Adreian Payne is arguably the best senior in the country. He’s averaging 17.2 points and 8 rebounds a game.
Payne’s a major piece for the top ranked Spartans, but there’s one thing that irks his soul and that’s the media attention this year’s freshmen class is receiving. The most noticeable ones being Andrew Wiggins, Jabari Parker and Julius Randle.
“Yeah it pisses us off,” senior forward Adreian Payne told SNY.tv exclusively after he dropped a career-best 29 points on 10-for-15 shooting and added 10 rebounds in the win. ”But we just use it for motivation. Aint nothing else we can do about it.”
It’s easy to see where Payne is coming from here. Michigan State is a veteran squad with athletes everywhere, but they continue to get overshadowed because they’re not a sexy team or fun to watch for the casual fan.
Let’s just call them the Spurs of college basketball.
