Could John Calipari really walk away from the kingdom he’s built at Kentucky?
Ken Berger of CBS Sports is reporting that the Knicks could decide to pursue John Calipari this off-season as a way of continuing to coddle free agent to be Carmelo Anthony.

“Where’s the excitement?” one rival executive said this week. “They have no pick, and the excitement isn’t coming from winning.”
The Knicks have given Anthony and his representatives at CAA tremendous control. CAA represents Mike Woodson, Allan Houston, Mark Warkentien, J.R. Smith, Chris Smith and Andrea Bargnani.
CAA and William Wesley also represent Calipari.
It is believed that Calipari would seek an annual contract of $8 million from the Knicks.
“That’s what Wes will be pushing,” one of the executives said. “That’s what CAA will be pushing.”
Calipari would also want full control over the roster.
“He wants full control, bottom line,” one executive said.
Now this is one rumor I can see playing out.
Regardless of how happy Calipari seems to be, he has a bad taste in his mouth from his previous experience with the Nets.
Plus there’s only so much domination of college basketball one can do before they get bored, and want the ultimate challenge.
