Sometimes making the adjustment from college to the NFL seems easy. Other times, its pretty difficult and take a couple years. Rams WR and return man Tavon Austin says that his transition has been harder than he expected:
“This isn’t supposed to be easy,” he said. “Maybe it was a little harder than I thought at first. But all I can do is keep working.”
“It’s all about patience and I’m sure my time will come,” the speedy rookie receiver said. “I’m learning what it takes to be successful and I’m doing the things the coaches tell me.”
The interesting thing here to me is that Austin actually isn’t playing that bad. He leads all rookies in catches with 31 but he doesn’t have many explosive plays and only two TDs. Most people expected him to be a breakout deep threat right out of the gate and that just hasn’t happened yet. He has also had a staggering 257 punt return yards lost to penalty.
Stay patient and keep working, in a couple years when he is balling no one will remember this.
