Eastern Michigan officials announced that two arrests have been made in the fatal shooting of Eastern Michigan football player Demarius Reed. According to the university, one suspect was arraigned on Sunday and the other suspect was arraigned on Monday in the slaying of the 20-year-old wide receiver from Chicago.
University President Susan Martin issued a statement thanking city and campus police investigators for their work “in identifying suspects in this tragic and senseless crime against a wonderful student and inspiring young man.”
Reed was gunned down last month at an off-campus apartment building in Ypsilanti in what police have said was a possible robbery. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Reed’s family and hopefully he will soon get justice.
