Victor Cruz: “We need Hakeem Nicks To Be His Normal Self For Us To Win”

The New York Giants sit at 4-7 on the brink of mathematical playoff elimination.

The team has been a shell of itself all season, and Hakeem Nicks is the embodiment of that frustration.   Nick has started 10 of the teams 11 games on the season, but has not been his normal explosive self.

His 42 catches for 620 yards might be good for some receivers, but Nicks is the Giants big play wide receiver.  He has no touchdowns on the season, and only 10 catches over 20 yards.

His running mate Victor Cruz told the Star Ledger that the Giants “can’t win when Nicks isn’t his normal self.”

“I’m happy to have him back, period,” Cruz said. “Just to have him back in the huddle, in the offense, on the sideline dressed and ready to go, he’s a guy that we need. We need him to be his normal self in order for us to win games and in order for our morale to be up, things like that. We’re definitely happy to have him back.”

Nicks didn’t speak to the media, but Cruz says he looks good.

“He looked good, he looked fluid, he looked like his normal self again,” Cruz said. “So it felt good to have him back so hopefully we can have more of him.”
