Bobby Bowden’s Grandson Dies In Car Crash

This is a sad story. Bobby Bowden’s grandson, 23-year-old Taylor Jeffrey Bowden along with Rafael Fernandes de Auguiar-Valini who was the driver have both died following a crash in a ditch in Winter Haven, FL.

Amazingly, Robert Lewis Edwards was found alive in the car and found during a four hour rescue. From

Deputies were on the scene for almost four hours Thursday morning when members of a dive team removing what they thought was the only person inside heard what sounded like grunting, deputies said.

Minutes later, Edwards, conscious but barely coherent, was pulled out alive.

He was taken to Winter Haven Hospital where he was treated for hypothermia and other injuries. His condition was not immediately available.

Deputies said Edwards was submerged in the water up to his neck but had a small air pocket. The front of the car was completely submerged.

It’s believed that alcohol played a role in the crash but the police say it is an ongoing investigation. Bowden had just gotten his bachelor’s degree two weeks ago.

Thoughts and prayers go out to Taylor and Rafael’s families in this tragic situation.
