Brent Grimes is finally going to get the opportunity to cash out after tearing his Achilles last year right before he was set to enjoy the fruits of solid cornerback play as a member of the Dolphins.
Grimes balled out this season in Miami, leading the team with four interceptions, a performance that earned him a Pro Bowl birth. he also gets the opportunity to once again listen to the Dolphins talk about paying him like the No. 1 corner he is.
Grimes told reporters after Sundays season finale against the Jets that he likes Miami, and “would like to return.”
“I like it here. I like the coaches, I like the players and it’s a good team,” Grimes said, via ESPN.com. “Obviously, we didn’t finish how we wanted to and close out the season well. But I just let my agents handle everything. If [the Dolphins] want to keep me here, they’ll see how it goes.”
Miami could Franchise Grimes as well, and pay him like the top four corners in the league are. Because Grimes has been franchised once before, he’ll get more than a regular franchised corner would.
Grimes will do fine.
