Many expected Shuan Phillips to be added veteran depth when the Denver Broncos signed him in the off-season. After the crazy departure of Elvis Dumervil to the Ravens, and the Suspension of Von Miller for six games, Phillips has likely been the Broncos best defensive player.
Phillips has 10 sacks on the season, and CBS Sports is reporting that earned him $800,000 in bonus money.
Should he reach 12 sacks, Phillips would trigger another $400,000 in bonus money, and should he reach 14 sacks, he would earn another $800,000 on top of that. So it stands to reason the veteran could still nearly double the cumulative $1.8M he has earned thus far in base salary and bonus money.
Phillips was only supposed to earn $1 million this season.
