Reunited and it feels so good? That song could be playing in LA if the Lakers pull off a discussed trade to swap Andrew Bynum for Pau Gasol. However according to an ESPN report, the Lakers are just interested in this trade but also waiving Bynum to save more cap space:

By trading Gasol in a package for Bynum and then waiving him, the injury-ravaged Lakers could save more than $20 million in salaries and luxury taxes, which could help them maintain financial flexibility heading into the next few summers. A Gasol-Bynum trade would have to include at least one other player and perhaps other assets from Cleveland.

The Bulls are also said to be interested in the deal but are reluctant to do a deal involving Loul Deng if they don’t get a young up and comer. No deal is imminent for now and both players have their own set of issues right now with Bynum being suspended and Gasol missing games with an upper respitory infection.

It would be pretty ironic if they Lakers made a move for Bynum only to cut him. Cold world.
