UFC  champion Georges St-Pierre looks to be following through with his retirement and further clarified that on a UFC held conference call today.

St-Pierre was apologetic in tone but made it be known that he must take this absence for personal reasons and couldn’t give his all to the sport if he chose to compete.

The now vacant championship will most likely be up for grabs in a fight in April or May. John Hendricks is surely to be one of the fighters competing for the title but the other isn’t as clear cut.  Tyron Woodley would get my vote to oppose Hendricks after his most recent victory over  Josh Koscheck.

St-Pierre hasn’t ruled out a return to the octagon but it is clear that those plans are in the very distant future.
