The Portland Trail Blazers were able to make somewhat of a statement last night after they outlasted and defeated the Indiana Pacers at home.
lost in the Pacers falling to 16-2 was the offensive explosion by star guard Paul George. George is hell bent on being an MVP caliber player, and put his full arsenal on display.
George hit five three-pointers in the game’s final three minutes as Indiana desperately tried to claw back in the game. His 43 points included a total of seven three-pointers (on 15 attempts) and he shot 16-for-30 overall in 37 minutes.
“I was just trying to keep us in there,” George said of his late flurry. “My number was called upon. In the fourth quarter I was just trying to be there for my teammates. They did a great job getting me open to get some good looks and I was fortunate to knock some shots down.”
George’s previous career-high was 37 points (on 13-for-21 shooting) against the Hornets on Nov. 21, 2012.
