The Texans may probably benifit from firing Gary Kubiak early, and getting an interview with Lovie Smith out the way as well for Rooney Rule purposes.

Chris Mortensen is reporting that talks between the Houston Texans and Penn State head coach Bill O’Brien are heating up, and things are moving fluidly.

O’Brien reportedly is the overwhelming favorite to become the next coach of the Houston Texans, and the two sides are working to get a deal in place within the next week.

O’Brien of course just had his buyout from Penn State dramatically reduced to just above $6 million.
