If a player is on the trading block, you know it’s just a matter of time before the Knicks want in on the action. With the self-imposed deadline looming for the Rockets to deal Asik, the New York Post is reporting that the Knicks want in on a three-way deal to get the big man:
The Knicks made a foray into the Omer Asik sweepstakes and had discussions with the Rockets and a third team about a three-way swap, an NBA source told The Post. But the source said the Knicks are likely to fall short of obtaining the Houston 7-footer who has asked to be traded.
Of course the Knicks want in on this deal. Outside of the jokes about the Knicks wanting to aquire every overpaid player in the league, Asik is actually what the Knicks need. The biggest problem is, who exactly are they supposed to trade for him? Plus they have no draft picks to give up.
I’d bet against him ending up in New York.
