by Mark Gunnels | Posted on Tuesday, December 3rd, 2013

Seattle is targeting Robinson Cano.

Negotiations with the Yankees are at a stand still. Robinson Cano wants a 9-year, $252 million contract. While the Yankees aren’t willing to give the superstar second basemen a deal longer than seven years.

The Seattle Mariners are now targeting Cano.

The Seattle Mariners have emerged as major players in the sweepstakes for free agent Robinson Cano, according to several sources who spoke to ESPNNewYork.com on Tuesday on the condition of anonymity.

A team like Seattle that is in desperate need of star power may be willing to give Cano whatever he desires.
