The rumor mill in college football is churning hard right now, and it’s centered directly on Nick Saban and the possible opening at Texas.
Nick Saban to Texas would shut down the sports world for a few weeks. It has to happen first. ESPN Radio host Paul Finebaum reported on his show on Tuesday that Saban has been sitting on a new contract from Alabama since Friday.
Today of course is Tuesday, and Saban still hasn’t signed said contract, so is he negotiating for more.
“You’re also going to hear a lot more about Nick Saban because he has a contract on his desk that’s been there since Friday – and today is Tuesday,” he said. Finebaum did not cite a source for the information.
Finebaum told AL.com on Friday that he believed Alabama was on the verge of announcing a new deal with Saban.
“It’s starting to come out today that Saban is staying at Alabama and will have a new deal so they’ll focus on that,” Finebaum said when asked about how Alabama fans were responding to the Tide’s disappointing Iron Bowl loss.
Gil Brandt of NFL.com is also reporting that Saban and Alabama are talking.
Just told by source Nick Saban in contract negotiations w #Alabama for extension in $7M/year range.

Saban is already the highest-paid coach in the country with a 2013 salary of $5,545,842. A pay increase would ensure he stays that.
