Regardless of what happens to Rex Ryan next Monday, you can’t say he didn’t go out fighting. The fiery head coach is doing his best to spur his team on amid discussions of his likely departure.
After beating the Browns 24-13, Ryan is simply trying to close the season out the correct way. According to the New York Post, Ryan is aware of the talk, but says he’s simply focused on the Dolphins, and not his job status.
Ryan danced around everything concerning his job, saying his only focus is the Dolphins, who the Jets play on Sunday. Ryan did say he’s not upset about the current uncertainty surrounding his job status.
“I’m not disgruntled about anything,” Ryan said. “I’m excited about the opportunity in front us, which is playing the Dolphins.”
Ryan addressed the team on Saturday and angrily told them the Jets were already searching for his replacement, according to a source. Ryan did not deny that happened.
“You know again guys I’m not going there,” Ryan said. “My focus is just on this Miami thing.”
Ryan is in his fifth season with the Jets and it will be his third straight without a playoff appearance.
