Serena Williams just added another title to her impressive resume. After finishing 78-4 with 11 titles, including the US Open and the French Open Williams was named AP’s Female Athlete of the Year. This is the third time the tennis star has won the award — she won in 2002 and in 2009.
Williams received 55 of the 96 votes, finishing well ahead of former Baylor star Brittney Griner, the WNBA’s No. 1 pick this past April, who had 14. The AP’s Male Athlete of the Year will be announced later on today. Congratulations to Serena Williams.
