It wasn’t a breakout game that you would expect from a No. 3 overall pick, but when you’re the benched Trent Richardson, any production is great production.
Richardson had his most complete game since joining Indy, totaling 102 yards from scrimmage in the teams 25-3 win over Houston Sunday.
Richardson rushed 19 times for a season-high 64 yards and caught four passes for 38 yards and a touchdown.
He played his third straight game as Donald Brown’s backup, but got to carry the load after Brown left the game with a stinger.
“I come out and train to be in that position whenever my number’s called … to be ready,” Richardson said. “The offensive line made it real easy for me today.”
“You’ve got to be patient,” Richardson said. “That’s the type of offense we have. We play for all four quarters.”
More outing like that one, and Richardson might get his jersey retired.
