Everything about this is strange.
The NY Post is reporting that the family of Christopher Rivera — a Puerto Rican boxer who was shot to death last week — honored him by propping his corpse up in a fake ring and dressing him up in boxing gear at his wake. I guess an open casket with a nice suit was just too basic.
Rivera’s mother, wife and son posed with the body while other mourners snapped pictures of Rivera on their cell phones.
Rivera was only 23 so as peculiar as this situation is, it’s still very sad that a young man had to lose his dream and his life due to gun violence. Rivera’s family says he loved boxing more than anything so I guess they felt like this the best way to honor their loved one. To each his own.
