I like Keyshawn Johnson and all, but this assessment of Chip Kelly is totally wrong and off base.
Johnson was a guest on the JonAndSeanShow, and gave the Eagles coach a C grade for this season because in Johnson’s words, Kelly didn’t live up to expectations.
“I would probably say, probably just about a C,” said Johnson. “Well because he started off slow. He thought that he was never going to, his offense was going to work to the point, where, of no return. It’s been OK. It hasn’t been this eye-popping, we’re going to all of a sudden change the way that football is played on a professional level. It hasn’t done that and I think that was the expectations, and so I would say that he has come up short of expectations.”
First Kelly has always shied away from being labeled an innovator or some type of offensive genius.
Kelly’s Eagles offense finished second in yards, second in DVOA and fourth in points during Kelly’s first year. When reminded that Kelly’s squad made the playoffs, Johnson said: “Yeah, but you and me could have made the playoffs in that division.”
