SHOCKING…
You are telling me that Lolo Jones who just started bobsledding just recently was named to the team just because she can generate revenue and ratings for NBC and the US bobsled team? Who would have thunk it (Bugs Bunny reference)?
Well everyone, but for their part the US Bobsled team is sticking to their story.
Lolo Jones “absolutely” earned her spot on the U.S. Olympic bobsled team, the federation’s top officer said Thursday night, insisting the selection committee relied only on data and results in making its picks.
U.S. Bobsled and Skeleton Federation CEO Darrin Steele told The Associated Press that he even double-checked all the numbers that were pored over while deciding on the three push athletes for the women’s team that will compete in Sochi.
The USBSF has gotten a number of complaints about Jones’ selection, mainly through emails and social media, though Steele remains convinced that the two-time Summer Olympic hurdler who is often a lightning rod for critics was the right pick.
It is my opinion this is a bold face lie. Not saying she is terrible, but there were more qualified and experienced bobsledders who don’t draw ratings, so they were pushed to the side.
I understand it, but it is important for appearances sakes, they never let the truth come out.
“I should have been working harder on gaining Twitter followers than gaining muscle mass,” said Emily Azevedo, who along with teammate Katie Eberling, was in the running for the spot Jones received.
Eberling said there was an agenda to put Jones on the team.
“I feel this year there was a certain agenda,” Eberling said. “It’s no fault of my teammates. There’s been a lot of inconsistencies and that makes you wonder what’s going on. It’s not right.”
