I think in the end Luol Deng simply got tired of the Chicago Bulls treating him like a roll player, when he is in fact an all star who plays amazing defense.
Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting that Deng turned down the Bulls final offer of a 3 year $30 million extension. According to the report, Deng was traded to Cleveland a few days after.

Deng, who will be an unrestricted free agent this summer, turned down the deal on Friday, clearing the way for Bulls management to complete a deal.
Deng spent nine years in Chicago, and is looking for a market value of $13-$15 million per season. Expect the L.A. Lakers to make Deng feel at home this summer.
