An unexpected move of sorts between the Tampa Bay Rays and David Price.
The two have agreed to a one-year $14 million deal, which will keep Price in Tampa one year. In doing this, both sides will avoid arbitration and Price will be free to test the free agency waters in 2015.
What is surprising is how much the oft frugal Rays paid Price for one season–$14 million being the highest they’ve ever paid a player for a single season.
Price is 28-years-old with a very impressive Cy Young resume, he’ll surely be in high demand come next season.
