Things are heating up for the Washington Redskins and Jay Gruden may be their flavor of the month.
Mark Maske of the Washington Post via several league sources is reporting that Jay Gruden appears to be the top choice for Dan Snyder and the Redskins to replace Mike Shanahan.
One NFL source on Jay Gruden and Redskins: "I think he's their first choice." Others within league suspect same thing.

Even so, Gruden’s ties to Allen and others in the Redskins organization could be significant as the interview process moves forward. Some people connected with the league-wide hiring process now seem to consider Gruden one of the favorites to land the job and wonder if the Redskins will make a push to hire Gruden immediately during his visit.
It is not clear if Gruden would be receptive to such an approach even if the Redskins were to take it. He appears to have other options. He interviewed Tuesday with theTennessee Titans and is scheduled to interview Thursday with the Minnesota Vikings.
I think before Gruden accepts any job working with a high profile quarterback, he should explain why he chose Dalton over Kaepernick, and what he could actually do to help RG3 improve.
I’ll wait and see on this report.
