The New Orleans Saints have no intentions of losing star tight end Jimmy Graham.
Graham who’s rookie deal has expired, has turned into a star, and is highly coveted. The Saints can sign Graham to a long-term deal or they can use the franchise tag on him.
It’s still a tricky situation because Graham, who’s extremely versatile, can be franchised as a tight end or wide receiver.
Speaking at the Senior Bowl on Tuesday, Saints General Manager Mickey Loomis said, via WWL-TV, that the Saints would use the franchise tag on Graham if they are unable to reach agreement on a longer deal.
Loomis also said they’d franchise him as a tight end, since he was drafted as one and, in the mind of the team, remains one.

Loomis was adamant about Graham being a tight end. Said that's where he was drafted and that's what he is.
