Colin Kaepernick may become the highest paid quarterback in NFL history, it’s simply about when at this point.

Ian Rapoport is reporting that the 49ers and representatives for Kaepernick have started negotiations on a new deal.

The team has mentioned that a new contract for Kaepernick was among their top offseason priorities and it’s never to early to start working out the kinks of a monster deal.

Kaepernick is in the final year of his rookie contract and will make $1.073 million for the 2014 season.
