A.J. Burnett

AJ Burnett has quietly inked a 1-year deal with the Phillies

The move comes off the heels of the report that Cole Hamels could possibly miss the beginning of the season due to a nagging biceps injury.

According to Fox Sports the Phillies have signed the veteran pitcher to a 1-year deal worth $16 million. Good move by the Phillies, Burnett is coming off a good two year stint with the Pirates and can help balance that rotation especially with Hamels’ status unknown.

The trio of Burnett, Cliff Lee and a healthy Hamels could make the Phillies early dark horses.
