UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman is preparing for his May fight against Vitor Belfort, but that hasn’t stopped hi from thinking about his future.
In a recent interview with MMAJunkie.com Weidman says that he wants to concur his weight class and then jump up to challenge “The best at 205.”
We all know that the best fighter in the world, Jon Jones, just so happens to be the best in the 205 division. I’m sure his domination of Anderson Silva has given Weidman immense confidence but no one at 205 will be as small as Silva. He won’t be able to take down his opponents at will like he’s been accustomed to doing at 185 lbs.
We may never see the Weidman vs Jones fight though, because Jones has openly said that a move to heavyweight is in his future.
Weidman vs Cormier would be an interesting match-up between two heavy handed wrestlers.
