Brent Grimes is running away scared from the franchise tag and who can blame him.
Grimes had four interceptions in 2013, to help cap off a great season one year after having to prove himself following an Achilles tear.
After playing 2013 on a one-year, $5.5 million contract and making his second straight pro bowl, Grimes wants to get paid. Grimes is aware that the franchise tag would pay him $11.2 million 2014, but told the Miami Herald that “nobody wants the franchise tag.”
The tag “is not what anybody wants,” Grimes said, via the Miami Herald.
At 30, this is Grimes last opportunity for a big money contract.
