If I had to bet, I don’t think this fight is ever going to happen, but the buzz from it has crossed over to mainstream news.
CBS News is reporting that Floyd Mayweather Sr. is slated to be the referee and the promoter is really trying to hype it up.
Feldman says he’s chosen rap star DMX, whose real name is Earl Simmons to fightGeorge Zimmerman, the man known for the fatal shooting of Trayvon Martin, reports CBS Philadelphia. Simmons is 43 years old, and Zimmerman is 30 years old.
“I’ve gotten over 15,000 emails, I had to end [the submissions to fight Zimmerman] there,” Feldman told a Philadelphia radio show. “Very angry, I had everything from celebrities to [rapper] The Game… I got into it with him on TMZ the other day. Floyd Mayweather Sr. is the referee with this, we’re very excited.”
“It’s DMX. Hip hop star, legend. He called him out on TMZ this week. It’s controversy versus controversy. I know this country wants to see this guy get [George Zimmerman’s] [expletive] kicked.”
The fight is scheduled for March 14th, the location is being withheld and will be shown on internet PPV.
