matt garza missed contract

Matt Garza signed a $50 million/4 year contract with Milwaukee this offseason. While thats pretty good, 52 is more than 50 and playing for LA is better than Milwaukee. He could have signed a $52/4 year contract with the Angels but he ignored the offer because he was on vacation with his wife:

“They offered, but it was more of a weird situation,” said Garza, who wound up getting $50 million in guaranteed money from Milwaukee. “I was on vacation with my wife and I didn’t want to be disturbed, and it was like, ‘Here it is, we’ll pull it in a certain amount of hours.’ I didn’t have a chance to respond, so I just said, ‘Whatever. It is what it is.’”

I’m sure his wife would not have been so ok with this had he not got another contract offer. On the flip side, hat tip to him for putting family first right? You be the judge of that but I wouldn’t mind escaping winter and going to Turks and Caicos.
