The drudgery of the NFL draft season appears when anonymous personnel men come out the blue and rip certain players to shreds for no just cause.
One anonymous NFL scout ripped Johnny Manziel to Bob McGinn of the Journal-Sentinel.
Said another personnel man with more than 15 years of NFL scouting experience: “I’m fine with him on the field. He’s probably the most unique guy I’ve done at that position. Just the way he kind of controls the game when he’s on. But it’s the other stuff. He’s not a worker. He doesn’t show up. He does what he wants to do. They need him. Everybody just kind of shrugs it off. You try to pull some of the stuff he does in an NFL locker room and it’s just not going to work.”
I disagree with the scout wholeheartedly.
If you’re going to rip Manziel, cool, but don’t be lazy about it. You don’t win a Heisman Trophy by not being a worker. You don’t win Heisman Trophies and break SEC records by doing your own thing.
