I know people are reading this and wondering why it matters what Matt Cassel does in the NFL.
Ian Rapoport is reporting that Cassel will void the final year of his deal, and will hit the free agent market.
#Vikings QB Matt Cassel will void his contract for 2014 and become a free agent, per source. Was to make $3.7M, had until Friday to do it

Why will Cassel void? He’ll generate interest on open market & command a higher salary than $3.7M. Many with QB needs, Vikings want him back

Makes sense.
Instead of $3.8 million, Cassel can probably get up to $5.5 million on the open market.
