After the Super Bowl, Pete Carroll made it clear that his first priority was to keep his winning team together. Unfortunately, free agency and cap space may be the demise of that dream. According to NBC Sports, there is a good chance that the Bears will be signing DE Michael Bennett as soon as free agency begins Tuesday at 4pm ET.
Bennett had signed a one-year $5 million contract with the Seahawks after he was a free agent as a member of the Bucs. The Seahawks expressed after Super Bowl that their interest was keeping him on their team, but this doesn’t appear that it will happen. Bennett to the Bears would also probably mean the end of Julius Peppers’ run with the team.
