Even though people ask Chris Johnson all the time if he will be returning to the Titans, that doesn’t mean he knows the answer.
The running back once known as CJ2K’s future is in serious jeopardy with the Titans and from these quotes to The Tennessean, he isn’t too optimistic:
“People I know, and people I don’t know, they all ask me: Are you going to be back with the Titans? What are they going to do?” he said on Wednesday. “I get it 15-20 times a day at least. And honestly, I don’t know. I don’t know what they are going to do.”
“It’s in God’s hands. If I am back with the Titans, that’s where God wants me to be,” Johnson said. “If I have to move on and play somewhere else, that’s all God’s decision. I know the decision that coach Whisenhunt and the front office of the Titans has to make, but it is going to come as a result of what God wants for me. … He’s going to do what is best for me, and I don’t have a problem with that.”
The problem for Johnson is he is due $8 million this year coming off a career low in rushing yards. I just don’t see them bring him back at that big of a salary for his production. He may have to go elsewhere on a short term deal to show he’s still got it.
