The San Francisco 49ers have been stockpiling running backs to take over for Frank Gore when his body finally breaks down.
Kendall Hunter, LaMichael James, Marcus Lattimore and a rookie they add in the draft this year all will be waiting in line behind the 30-year-old Gore.
For the record, my money’s on Lattimore.
If you let Jim Harbaugh tell it, those guys might be waiting behind Gore for a while. Harbaugh told CSN Bay Area that he believes Gore has three more good years left in him.
“I really think Frank has three more good years,” Harbaugh said Wednesday at the NFL Annual Meeting, per CSN Bay Area. “I truly believe that. But we’re in a game of taking it one year at a time.”
Gore will earn $6.45 million on the final season of his four-year, $25.9 million deal he received in 2011.
