Juan Manuel Marquez Open to 5th Pacquiao Fight

Manny Pacquiao v Juan Manuel Marquez

With his options quickly declining Juan Manuel Marquez is suddenly open to a 5th fight with Manny Pacquiao.

“He wants the challenge of the Bradley – Pacquiao winner, he wants to make history of a fifth world title in five divisions. If Pacquiao wins he’ll have the belt and, Juan wants it.” – Marquez’s promoter Fernando Beltran

Of course this is dependant on Pacquiao defeating Bradley in April, but then the question arises why would Pac want to fight Marquez. He was hit with a lucky punch last fight which set back his career, so why risk it again?

Pacquiao would most likely pursue the Mayweather fight in September or a tune up bout against an up-and-coming Top Rank opponent for his last fight under contract.

Marquez is coming off of a loss to Bradley and his age doesn’t help his future prospects. He’s the desperate fighter now and has little leverage to broker a fight against Pacquiao.
