The bleeding just won’t stop for Knicks fans.
According to ProbasketballTalk.com, Knicks are looking for ways to remove Amar’e from their roster this coming year and many reports are reporting that the amnesty clause can be used on Amar’e but according to the new Collective Bargaining Agreement that might not be the case.
“For a player to be eligible for the Amnesty provision he must be on his team’s roster continuously from July 1, 2011 to the date he is amnestied, without any new contract, extension, renegotiation or other amendment to his contract in the meantime. Players who were waived prior to July 1, 2011 and are still receiving guaranteed salary are also eligible. Teams cannot amnesty players they sign, receive in trade, extend, renegotiate, or otherwise amend after July 1, 2011.”
Amar’e has been averaging 9.9ppg and 4.3rpg, trading Amar’e would open up cap space for the Knicks, which will allow them to start bringing talent to turn this team around. Carmelo has been visibly frustrated with this team, so the Knicks need to move quick if they want to keep their star player happy and on the roster.
