Paulie Malignaggi may be another loss from retirement, and a permanent seat at the broadcast booth.
Malignaggi will look to become a two-time welterweight champion when he faces Shawn Porter on April 19 in Washington, DC, as part of Showtime’s world title triple-header also featuring Bernard Hopkins vs Beibut Shumenov, and Peter Quillin vs Lukas Konecny.
The 33-year-old Malignaggi is confident that his experience and skills will lead him to victory over the rugged Shawn Porter.
“I’m excited to be back in a title fight so soon after my win over Zab Judah. I will become a three-time world champion on April 19,” said Malignaggi. “Porter is a good fighter and I’m sure he’ll be a champion again in the future, but he doesn’t have the tools or experience to beat me.”
It will be interesting to see if the crafty and veteran Malignaggi can do enough to defeat the strong and fiery Porter.
